Life has been crazy busy for us lately and so the blog posts are sort of slow coming. In some ways I really miss it. Sitting down to write, process, and think aloud. But I see where God has put some immediate IRL (in-real-life) time consuming opportunities in front of me and I’m walking through those doors right now. Writing is a bit of a luxury for me and the time will come one day when I have more time for that. Right now my kids and family need me in new ways. So I’m putting forth more energy and time in those places. I understand from those Mammas a little further down the road from me that I will miss this time – where the little one hangs around my knees and climbs all over me like a monkey. And where the older one is still okay with me sitting down next to him at lunch. Speaking of school lunch……two weeks ago I was helping out in Mitchell’s classroom and he begged me to go to lunch with his class. So I did. I got there just as all the kids were sitting down and a cute little girl in his class was just putting her lunch down next to Mitchell when he said very quickly to her, “Um, my Mom’s going to sit there. Can you please move?” Insert the biggest, cheesiest parental grin you’ve ever seen come across this face of mine. And it kept growing the rest of the day. I felt really bad for the “other girl” but not bad enough to sit anywhere else other than next to my boy child. So I’m sort of treasuring these moments in between the craziness of life and praying I don’t miss the things a Mamma isn’t supposed to miss.
So Randy has had bronchitis for the last week and a half. He just got an antibiotic on Monday and that’s helping him some but he has been awful sick. If you think about it would you please pray for him because he really needs it. I’ve not seen him this sick in a long time. He went to the office a little while yesterday and it wore him out. Today he’s back at work but I’m hoping to talk him into a half day because he needs to rest and his strength back. He overdid it this weekend with all the church activities – like once a year type big event stuff that he just couldn’t miss. The Upwards Award Ceremony and Special Service on Sunday was kickn’ awesome. We had four basketball goals on the stage and all the cheerleaders and bb players came dribbling down the aisle to the Globetrotters tune and shot a basket. All of our church members wore purple and orange, the colors of Upwards this year and so it was just really cool. All the kids sat on the stage and Randy spoke to them and then he spoke to the parents. It was an awesome day and there was a neat excitement in the air. Our kids don’t participate in Upwards right now because Sophie chose ballet over basketball this year but she’s changing her tune now partly because her BFF plays basketball but she actually can dribble pretty well so I think she’s going for basketball next year. We don’t do more than one thing at a time for the kids – just brings on too much craziness. We aren’t willing to give up meals around the table because of nights at practice three times a week. Who knows, maybe we’ll cave but I hope not. I hope we’ll keep fighting for our family time. It’s not easy but it’s worth it.
Well, that’s the family news in a quick nutshell.
Hope ya’ll have a great rest of the week!
